NCP leader and Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad on Friday tweeted that there a huge blood loss in Maharashtra. Blood banks have dried up and we have only 7-8 days of blood left. Time demands that people come forward and donate blood. Awhad specifically called on the youth to come forward voluntarily and selflessly for Rakdan.

Earlier in the year 2020, during Corona, there was anemia in the state. Even then a blood donation call. Meanwhile, on Friday, the State Blood Transfusion Council (The State Blood Transfusion Council) has also warned the state government about blood deficiency in blood banks. The council says that there is the blood left in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune for seven days of use. While blood banks in other cities of the state have blood available for 10 to 11 days.
